We’re excited to announce a new program at Emmanuel Family and Child Development Center! It’s called the Clinical Mental Health Program, and it’s here to help our students and families feel supported and strong. We want to make sure everyone in our community feels safe, happy, and able to talk about their feelings.
What is the Clinical Mental Health Program?
Our Clinical Mental Health Program will help children and families understand and manage their emotions. This program is here for all students and families who may need someone to talk to, especially during tough times. Kids will learn skills to calm down, talk about their feelings, and get along with others. This helps children feel better and do their best in school.
Meet Our New Clinical Director, Sonya McCollum!
To lead this program, we welcome our new Clinical Director, Sonya McCollum! Mrs. McCollum has many years of experience helping children and families. She is excited to meet you and work with everyone in our community. Mrs. McCollum will listen to children’s needs, and she’ll be a caring, trusted adult they can talk to. She will also work with parents and teachers to help everyone work together to make children feel safe and happy.
On-Site Licensed Therapists and Case Worker
To make sure children get the best support possible, we will have two licensed therapists on-site. These therapists are trained to work with children and help them with any emotional or behavioral challenges they may face. They will be available to meet with students one-on-one or in small groups.
In addition, we will also have a case worker on-site. Our case worker will provide extra support for children and families, helping with resources and connecting them to any services they may need. This team of caring professionals will make sure our students and families have access to the help they need, right here at school.
Why is Mental Health Important?
Just like it’s important to keep our bodies healthy, it’s also important to keep our minds healthy. When children learn to handle their emotions, they do better in school and in their friendships. This program will help them learn how to stay calm, share their feelings, and ask for help when they need it.
We’re excited about the changes and look forward to helping our community grow! Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like to learn more about our Clinical Mental Health Program.
